I’m not worried about tyranny

April 25th, 2007

I hear it all the time that it doesn’t matter if the common person has guns or not, the government has tanks and planes.  Whatever.

If you study war, war is won or lost by the common foot soldier.  You have seventy million families with guns, and among those 70 million families, there are over 270 million guns.  If you think the government is one big, scary monolithic body, you’re on crack.  We all saw how effective the government is when Katrina rolled through.  I’m not worried about tyranny in this country any time soon.

Plus, we’d have a split in the military.  Some will favor the good guys, some will favor tyranny.  You have millions of people in America who served too.  Do you think they’ll just magically forget the tactics they learned? Plus, millions of people each year play war games, myself included.  Nobody can win a guerilla war in America.  It’s not possible.  Maybe the aliens with alien technology and alien super armor can.  But if you’re worried about that, you need to turn the t.v. off and stop smoking so much dope.

Guns aside, it’s too easy to make a Molotov cocktail.  You currently have the equipment in your house to make a dozen of them.

Well, the eternally paranoid say, the government has tanks and planes.  This isn’t China.  I’m not worried about the government rolling over citizens with tanks.  And do  you really think the government will use nukes on its own people? What the hell would that gain? If they did that, so much for having any support whatsoever.  And smart bombs? Like the “government” is going to use smart bombs house to house.  What would that solve?

Sure, if the “government” wanted me, they’ll get me.  Not much I could do about it.  But if they wanted to suddenly take over 300 million people, forget it.  They simply don’t have the manpower, they’re outgunned, and too incompetent.  I’m not worried.

So worry not my friends.  If you should be worried about anything, it’s the upcoming zombie plague, not the government.  If the government in this country is anything, it’s not evil.  It’s stupid.

Stupidity does not preclude it from causing tremendous damage. No, the government should not be feared as an aggressor against it’s own citizens, but it should most certainly be a source of outrage.

Tyranny doesn’t have to look like tanks rolling over students, what about the fact that our bloated bureaucracy takes 40% of our income. What about the fact that our drug laws cause poverty, violence, and crime here in the States and in third world developing countries?

Yeah, they’re incompetent and stupid. All the more reason why their power should be severely limited.

FINE, use part of MY unpublished gun post in YOUR post! *grumble* That’s OK, I don’t know if I’ll ever get mine finished anyway. ;) LOL, great minds must think alike. Anyhow…I’m not too worried about OUR gov’t. I worry about forces outside our gov’t trying to overtake us. In that case, as in Iraq, the armed foot soldier will make life miserable for an invading force.

I forgot to add just now. I was a slight rampage here. I was just saying thanks for another great post. I have my younger brother in law in the Air Force and I just hope they dont send him over to Iraqu anytime soon. He has a wife and two girls. There are suppose to be missles that we can stop before they go off but I have no idea how. I just think its plain stupid.

Ummmm… I was going to comment, but I need to take a minute to turn off the tv and flush some herb… be right back

Scott - I’m all for less gov’t. the more money you give them, the less wisely they use it.

And I’m all for legalizing most drugs (and victimless crimes like prostitution, etc.). I’d rather see people making their own choices. The world would be better that way.

Tshsmom - One of the reasons why the 2nd Amendment was so relevant back then was that the Founding Fathers knew we could be invaded. They feared the
British trying to get revenge, and an armed citizenry would prevent that. If anyone tries to invade us today, it would be suicidal, considering how many people here have guns.

Tweety - My prayers tonight will be with your younger brother. I hope not too, especially being a husband and father.

Bo - Lol! That’s too funny.

I’m with you, man. When the Chinese invade, I’ll be guarding the beaches of SoCal with my SKS. When you think about it, if our gov’t can barely handle a couple of rednecks with hunting rifles at places like Ruby Ridge, what makes anyone think they or anyone else could do better in a fit of tyranny. If the commies invade, they may take the unarmed surfer-libs of the Left Coast and the rain-depressed Pacific NW, but when they get to Montana and Iowa, etc., they are gonna learn the meaning of the right to bear arms. Anyway, I think tyranny comes to democracies not by force, but by catering to the insecurity and appetites of the demos. Also, remember Tocqueville’s ‘tyranny of the majority’.

Another note… remember Washington’s call to isolationism. We lived by it pretty much until the Cold War. I think we depended on the Atlantic as much as on an armed militia. The Brits never really had a fighting chance.

By the way, to clarify… When I refer to the upcoming invasion, I am referring to the capitalist/Commies of the PRC. I mean no disrespect to the beautiful people and unfortunately nearly extinct culture that gave the world Sun Tzu, kung fu, and impeccably white linens.

John talked to J last night and he seems happy. I guess hes not going anywhere anytime soon. Hes MP for the Air Force and they need him on the base to Be a Police officer. I am glad he doesnt have my blog info for my last post I did. He hates when we bring down cops. but he has no jurisdiction here in WI when he comes to visit so I always let him have it. Well I hope all these politics get solved soon.

Guns might help fend off external enemies invading the U.S., but they’re not going to do much good against stupid government attacks. The Branch Davidians had lots of guns, but that didn’t keep the feds from using tanks and incendiary devices against them. That said, i don’t think the average (read: non-cult) citizen has anything to fear from the government. (aside from taxes, dismal public education, outsourcing, etc. etc.) Actually, I think the real threat could come from so-far-right-they’re-left nutters who decide to overthrow the government.

yes, stupid would be correct! And you are so right about the katrina thing…if they can’t get their shit together enough for a situation like that…

Yes it matters. It matters that the freedoms and ideals that established this country arent taken away. Its not a question that we will use a gun or need to. Or that our government has bigger and better weapons than we do.

Its a question of not letting someone try and justify taking those things away that were promised to us when this country was established.

Freedoms arent taken away from you in big pieces. They are taken away in small little bits..when you dont notice and it feels like something normal.

Yonder - I really wish we took heed of Washington’s isolationist policy. A lot of these wars we’ve been in recently have been unnecessary.

The SKS is probably the most underrated gun. Come the zombie plague, it will be one of my favs. I love the 7.62×39 round. The other thing about the SKS is it’s as durable as an AK, and a fifth of the price.

Sun Tzu’s da bomb, but my favorite Chinese guy ever is the guy who invented the noodle.

Tweety - I saw that post and commented on it. Very disturbing.

SME - It’s all numbers. The Branch Davidians weren’t going to get the common man and woman’s sympathy any time soon. Nobody really liked them. Now, if the gov’t started rounding up some ethnicity, it would be a completely different story. That’s where you’ll be glad the 2nd Amendment exists and there are millions of people like me around.

Slade - Katrina is still a sore spot for me. We have thousands of displaced Americans still and we’re throwing our money elsewhere. We have our priorities out of whack.

Jen - A child with a Molotov cocktail could take out a tank. Not only could, it has happened.

Big numbers with small guns beat small numbers with big guns. We’ve seen this happen hundreds of times in history. But alas, I bet I’m preaching to the converted here.

Freedoms arent taken away from you in big pieces. They are taken away in small little bits..when you dont notice and it feels like something normal.

    And that’s why I don’t believe in compromise. :)

    Zombie,

I am more worried about the apathy of the people of this country, than I am the government. I see ugliness in the future of this country if the people don’t pull their heads out of their behinds and realize what is going on.

On a side note, I put up two more posts on illegal immigration on my blog. The one I actually sent to Sen. Kennedy, that s.o.b.!

Neal - I saw your latest, but only commented on one. Very well written. I need to get off my ass and start writing more posts on illegal immigration. you saw my previous blog’s early months when I was more adamant about taking on illegal immigration. Now it’s kind of preaching to the converted, so I lost interest writing about it.

Apathy is what will eventually bring down this great Republic. No argument there.
