It’s been over 2 years
May 23rd, 2007I’ve been blogging for over two years now. I remember starting a blog after seeing my friend Dave’s blog, which was really good. Unfortunately, Dave rarely spends any time on it. I can’t blame him because he’s very busy nowadays.
Sadie Lou recently quit her blog, and it’s really sad. I loved her blog, for it was one of the most honest blogs on the internet. It’s just straight up, no fluff. I think I hold back too much, and I censor myself too much. I’ve written countless articles that I thought were too far over the line, so I never posted them. I can’t see her doing that because she’s the type of blogger with guts enough to post whatever she wanted to say. It’s really a shame to see her leave the blogging world.
I quit blogging once for almost a year, May ‘06 to February ‘07. I got burned out. I decided to come back because I liked doing it and missed it. I decided that if I were to come back, it would be because I loved doing it, and if it were a chore, I wouldn’t do it.
Then a friend of mine decided to make a website about movies. He wanted an all encompassing site that would have movies, music, and babes. It was my idea to add blogs to it, and I showed him how to use WordPress, which I prefer over Blogger. I’ve always been an Open Source advocate, because it’s simply the right thing to do.
So here I am, over two years old now. And yes, I’m still enjoying it. I think there’s a good chance it will live on to at least a third year, and hopefully many more. Yes, I will take breaks from blogging. And yes, I’ll go on vacation or go hunting a lot still, so if I don’t post for a week or two, and don’t visit your site in that time period either, don’t take it personally. If I quit blogging, I’ll let you know. Until then, if I’m absent, assume I’m out of town and away from a computer. I’ll definitely be away this coming weekend. See you later on next week. I censor myself too. I try not to get too personal and post about “issues” more than my life per se. We’ll see where that goes.

Our circle of blog-friends have created a LOT of great memories!! It seems like we’ve all known each other a lot longer than 2 years.
Blogging has turned out to be so much more than I ever expected. I cherish all my amazing blog friends, and you Mr. Zombieslayer, are at the top of my list!
Congrats on the landmark! We are actually pretty similar in the fact of blogging for 2 years yet taking a year off.

Happy two-plus years! I’m glad you’re back…if the zombie plague had arrived while you were gone, we all woulda been screwed.
You know I was just reading yesterday at VMMP’s about something similar about blog friends disappearing or quitting. I agree we have made some great connections on here. Share our lives and stories. Its great to have you all and I really dont want to lose anymore. I have lost a few friends but that is like in real life. They come and go and you always find new ones to replace the old. But some old friends you just cant replace. Have a great and safe trip.

Wow. Thanks for the compliments, Z. I will never regret my little postings nor the inspiring, thought provoking discussions that followed. I worked out my faith and my understanding of God, right out in front of the world and it felt really productive! If anything, I made lasting friendships–even if they are “just” internet connections. They mean something to me all the same. I’ll keep coming back here friend, don’t ever become a stranger!

Well done keeping it up for two years. And yes if your friends and family read your blog then you need to auto-censor or risk pissing off someone at some point, alternatively start another anonymous blog for uncensored contents and give us the address!
So glad you love blogging because I like reading your blog. I consider it pretty honest and straight forward. In fact I wish mine was more like that. Keep up the good work.
