Last 10 albums I listened to

September 1st, 2007

Here are the last ten albums I listened to.  I don’t like listening to individual songs.  I’ll listen to the whole album.

I got this idea from Just a Cool Cat, so giving credit to where it’s due…

01. The Killers - Hot Fuss
02. Alcatrazz - No Parole for Rock & Roll
03. Manowar - Gods of War
04. The Birthday Massacre - Nothing & Nowhere
05. HIM - Razorblade Romance
06. Dimmu Borgir - Puritanical Euphoric Misanthropia
07. Bon Jovi - New Jersey
08. Nightwish - Century Child
09. Cradle of Filth - Bitter Suites to Succubi
10. Leaves Eyes - Vinland Sega

You don’t have to give me ten, but what’s on your speakers right now?

Um, Polyphonic Spree. While “Bitter Suites to Succubi” is a clever title, I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t listen to it. I can’t even listen to Evanescence without feeling depressed. ;D

Oooh! Fun! I have a serious long list of stuff…
Here’s the contents of my music folder:

Aerosmith, Ar Supply, Aqua, Bikini Kill, Billy Idol, Blink 182, Blondie, Butthole Surfers, Cinderella, Cher, Concrete Blonde, Crow Soundtrack Set (1st three films), Faith No More, Garbage, Hole, Johnny Cash, Kittie, L7, Limp Bizkit, Lita Ford, Love and Rockets, Madonna, Marilyn Manson, Matchbox 20, Motley Crue, Nine Inch Nails, No Doubt, Our Lady Peace, Pink, Poison, Prince, Rob Zombie, Shearer, The Offspring, The Ramones, Vixen, and a huge folder of singles that I won’t waste your space listing ;)
I’m diverse too. I have a special folder that my family makes fun of. I call it “Lady Legends” and it has albums by:
Marilyn Monroe, Doris Day, Patsy Cline and Nancy Sinatra. I’m still hunting for Patti Page but so far I can only track down “Tennessee Waltz”

    Hows that?

SME - Well, Cradle of Filth is considerably happier than Evanescence. Although, that says very little.

Lime - Some good stuff there. Love ZZTop. I liked a few of David Grey’s songs. Of course I love Prince.

Jean - Aqua? I haven’t heard that in awhile. Last time I listened to Aqua was on a cruise ship.

I knew somebody who was an L7 groupie. Lucky guy.

You got a lot of stuff on there I like - Aqua, Billy Idol, Blondie, Concrete Blonde, the Crow soundtrack, Garbage (seen ‘em live), Lita Ford, Manson (missed the show, was out sick), the Crue, NIN, No Doubt, Poison (seen ‘em live), Prince, Zombie, the Ramones (used to do some of their covers). Good stuff. And Patsy Cline is cool too.

    Velvet Acid Christ.

    Rachel’s “Handwriting”

Today I listened to Iron Maiden’s 1st and Pearl Jam’s Yield. Some cool songs from your album list are HIM’s “One Last Time,” Filth’s “Scorched Earth Erotica,” Dimmu Borgir’s “Progenies,” and Bon Jovi’s “Stick to Your Guns.”

    Kate - Good stuff.

Jessica - Not familiar with Rachel.

Skeletor - Maiden’s first was their best. Don’t like PJ though. Yeah, all the individual songs you mentioned are awesome.

I love the album shuffle take on Random Ten. I am off to hear what sound Leaves Eyes is rocking.

  10. comment number 10 by: The Zombieslayer

Just - You’ll have to let me know if you like Leaves Eyes.

Wait, a band that chose the name “Cradle of Filth” is more chipper than Evanescence? Music is so confusing! *sigh*

I just picked up a Nickelback album this weekend. I LOVE those guys!
I was gonna pick up Bon Jovi’s new album at Circuit City for $7.99, but the sale price was only good on Tuesday….RAT BASTARDS!

The Cruxshadows, Black Tape for a Blue Girl, LoveSpirals are my newest CDs, so they’re getting the most play right now. The Cruxshadows are my new favorite band along with Voltaire, right now.

SME - I think just about anything is more chipper than Evanescence. I think Evanescence and My Chemical Romance are the official bands for cutters.

Tshsmom - Got a co-worker who’s heavily into them. Ironically, her fave band is Bon Jovi.

Kathleen - I’ll have to ask Badman who those bands are.

  15. comment number 15 by: Kathleen

The latter two are both on Projekt - the goth label, they’re more ethereal goth than industrial goth, I think. The Cruxshadows are definitely goth-goth. ;-) Lead singer’s name is Rogue. These days I mostly listen to my iPod since I listen all day at work, so the album listing was more difficult than it would have been pre-Christmas.

  16. comment number 16 by: tshsmom

HEY, what’s ironic about that? ;) I’ve been a Bon Jovi fan for over 20 years.

  17. comment number 17 by: The Zombieslayer

Kathleen - I’ll bug Badman to make me a CD with them. He has stuff by each of them, I’m sure.

Tshsmom - New Jersey is listed as one of my top 50 all-time albums.

lime — no, your list really isn’t all that divergent. Like The Force that binds the universe together - it all sucks.

Jean — Air Supply and Bikini Kill? How many voices did you say were in your head?

Kathleen — Of all the respondents, you have the best (and as far as I can read the only) taste in sound.

You ever notice how “Crue” and “Cure” might appear to be oh soooo similar, yet… Motley Crue sucks raw donkey ass, while The Cure is the best band ever.

Okay, now for a “good” (ahem) list of the last 10 albums I listened to (and this is real, although it’s more pretentious than even I could have fabricated):

    Converter - “Blast Furnace”
    [:SITD:] - “Stronghold”
Android Lust (also on record label Projekt) - “The Dividing”
    Legendary Pink Dots - “Curse”
    Hocico - “Signo de Aberracion”
Nurse with Wound - “Chance Meeting on a Dissecting Table of a Sewing Machine and an Umbrella”
Covenant - “Dreams of a Cryotank” (only the 25 minute track 011 “Cryotank Expansion: Dawn/Noon/Dusk/Night”)
    Izoloscope - “Audient Void”
    Terrorfakt - “Cold Steel World”
    unter null - “Sick Fuck”

None of this stuff was created in the artistic void of Satanic and/or heavy metal driveling. If you haven’t opened your ears to good music, try illegally downloading some of these albums and hear what you’ve been missing. Hopefully it won’t be sirens.
