Interviewed by Kathleen
September 19th, 20071) What do you like best about San Francisco?
The food or the concert venues. I don’t really like S.F. club scene, but a great place to see concerts. I love the Filmore and the Warfield for shows, and there are some other smaller venues I like as well.
2) What took you to San Francisco (assuming you weren’t born and raised there)?
I was born in Chicago, lived in over half a dozen states, but ended up in California for the weather. Now I’m here because the job situation in my field is good, and I actually like this area. If money weren’t an issue, I won’t lie to you, I’d be elsewhere.
3) Where did you get your obsession with zombies?
It’s how civilization will end. Read Max Brooks’ The Zombie Survival Guide if you want to live.
4) What do you like most about yourself?
I’m blessed. I have a good brain, a healthy body, and a positive attitude. It’s hard to say what I like best. I think one thing I like best is in life, I roll with the punches and keep fighting, no matter what life throws at me. I’m in a good situation right now and appreciate it because I’ve had it pretty bad in the past.
5) What does it take to be a “pretentious critic?” I’m not applying to be one, just wondering.
For each one of us, it’s different. But you have to be full of yourself. You have to know your stuff. You have to write well. You can’t be afraid to diss someone’s favorite movie or song. And you have to have a sense of humor, which is conflicting what I just said, but you can’t take it all too seriously.
Ironically, you have to have your preferences. You should have a favorite movie or music genre and be able to defend it to the bitter end. And you have to care about things that nobody else cares about. And lastly, you have to get along with our site owner. ![]()
OK, that’s the interview. If anyone wants to be interviewed, let me know in the comments field. These are the 5 rules I got from Kathleen:
Interview rules:
1. Leave me a comment saying “Interview me.”
2. I will respond by emailing you five questions. I get to pick the questions.
3. You will update your blog with a post containing your the answers to the questions.
4. You will include this explanation and an offer to interview someone else in the same post.
5. When others comment asking to be interviewed, you will ask them five questions.
i have to say i do think SF area is just beautiful. i’ve loved it the 2 times i have been there.
i am tempted to say interview me, not because i have nothign else to do, but because i get a kick out of seeing what other people ask. hhhmmmm…ok, interview me
I have never been to SF but have heard its beautiful. I have been to California once in my life I was fifteen. I was there with my parents. My mom got this crazy idea to move out to my granpa’s house in Sandy Valley Nevada. LOL..That didnt last long because the spoiled brat I was said if we didnt leave something bad was going to happen and mom believed me. LOL… Boy was a shameful kid. Just dont let the Young Z read that comment and give him any ideas. LOL…
Anyway I am going to say go for it this time around. I saw this a few months ago but just coulnt get the gumption to do it. So go for it now.
“It’s hard to say what I like best. I think one thing I like best is in life, I roll with the punches and keep fighting, no matter what life throws at me.”
I like that, it describes me perfectly, but weren’t they talking about you? ;p
Ok ok.. you knew I was going to say this cause I AM a pretentious critic and I AM full of myself so… Interview Me.
Howdy all - working on those questions. You’ll get them via email.
Oh, why not? Interview me, too.
SME -
1) Have you ever been attacked by a polar bear?
2) How do you like living in an igloo?
3) How close are you to Santa Claus’ house?
just kidding. I’ll email you the real questions some time today.
Tis a cool interview and you’re a cool person. Oh! I’ve said that before. I’ve only seen SF from the guide book I bought for SF and Arizona, in hopes to come to that part of the world in years to come. Looking forward to that trip.
La Cremiere - Definitely shoot me off an email if you’re in town. Tons of good food in the San Francisco area, and I like the bars that are low key and not so yuppie, which unfortunately are a minority in San Francisco.
You’ll love Arizona. The Grand Canyon is amazing. Walk for 15 minutes and you’ll ditch all the tourists. The different terrains are nice, from the forests around Flagstaff to the hippie mysticism of Sedona to the Sonoran desert, which is surprisingly pretty, and that’s coming from someone who hates deserts.
Huh? Don’t like the SF club scene? It’s like anything - you get what you put in. There’s everything in SF - full nudie strip bars with illegal sex acts (to watch and take part in) and small music dives galore. You ever been to Death Guild? Crawl out from unda yr rock ZS.
I said a minority. There are cool clubs here.
As for those clubs, I don’t do that any more.
Thanks for participating. I hope the questions weren’t too lame.
My favorite bar in SF is on Union Street and while yuppies do hang out there, it was more about the regulars who were more of the neighborhood types. When I told the regulars I was leaving, they asked why and I said, “This is the only place I’m happy here.” “Then it’s best that you move back.” I still miss that place - the Bus Stop.
I’ve never been there, so will definitely have to check it out.
