How the zombie plague will start

January 6th, 2008

There are many stories of how the upcoming zombie plague will begin. Romero’s Night of the Living Dead stated that the zombie plague happened because of a meteor. The 80s zombie comedy Return of the Living Dead was caused by a military experiment gone wrong. 28 Days Later was caused by a virus tested on primates that escaped a lab.

Recently, Will Smith in I Am Legend had to fight zombies caused by a scientist’s “cure” for cancer.

Now, Neal has an excellent explanation of the upcoming zombie plague. It’s psychiatric testing on humans and pharmaceutical greed. Read his article called “Are We All Nuts?” Guaranteed to scare you, because it’s true.

Interesting post and thought provoking - I admit I have thought along similar lines in the past.

I am not from a family of ‘pill poppers’ and my husband had to convince me to take the high blood pressure medicine I have been prescribed. I am not convinced it is doing me any good although the BP levels are now lower than what they were.

I think it will start from a combination of the pills and too much mindless television programing

That was pretty scary. Drug commercials are despicable, but at least I can mute them. But placing a giant Viagra sign behind the catcher in a baseball game is the worst. You can’t even enjoy a baseball game anymore cuz of those bastards.

Skeletor - Yeah, the last thing I want to see on the idiot box are ads for erectile dysfunction or toenail fungus. I’ve stopped watching baseball for other reasons though. I couldn’t even tell you who won the World Series.

    Neal - Yup.

Miladysa - I’ll admit I do NyQuil so I could sleep and get well enough to work. It’s something you’re not supposed to do a lot of, because like most of Western medicine, it causes liver damage over long-term use.

Interesting post. You know if you read books and you may have read this one about Watchers by Dean Koontz is in the same category.

    Night of the Living Dead..??

    I’ve seen that one.

I was about 8 years old and probably not meant to be watching it and it scared the living crap outta me!

    ;->…

Tweety - Never read Koontz. I’ll have to give him a try.

Gledwood - Scariest part of it all is it’s based on true events. I hope you have your food and water stored and lots of ammo, because we might be in for a long one.

Its funny but many times it seems that a great many of people in this country are just scared to live. Daily stresses and problems that our grandparents had to live with were far greater than anything we deal with but yet people run for a drug to feel better about their lives. I know I sound very shrill about it at times but this manic, credit and mortgage serfdom, keeping up with the Jones lifestyle makes me want to leave the country. Yeah, this could be the zombie trigger.

Beach - I’ve never understood the keeping up with the Joneses thing. And the whole depression thing I never got. Just, don’t be depressed. As far as I’m concerned, there are only 2 legitimate reasons to be depressed:
    1) death of a loved one,
    2) bad health.

Geez, you should see this place. couples here take it out on each other and the divorce rate is through the roof. I don’t get it.

Either rabies or fleas, like the Bubonic plague.

I have to admit not all his work is good but that one was.

Kate - If fleas, we’re all doomed. Luckily, as Max Brooks explained, it cannot be transmuted by fleas.

Tweetey - One of my all-time faves.

are you serious about the plague? gee!! i hope i can shelter in your zombie-free compound
i guess the only thing you can do about sickness, is to let it treat itself *mind power…i donno*.. people can’t really play god and take matters into their hand.
its like you said ‘good intention gone bad’

If you really think about it, weird sickness that never was there are coming up, like the bird flue, mad cow…
on my trip to south east asia, i understook why people there started getting bird flue, they hardly cook their meat.
Where i stay, cancer, blood pressure were something that was almost non-existence 20 yrs back but now with this thing called ‘modernization’ we have plenty of people with these sickness.
ITs probably the us making our lives more and more complicated when it could be just plain and simple..
