Obama will be the next President

February 26th, 2008

That’s my prediction. No, I won’t be voting for him. I’m just saying he’s going to be the next President.

I’ll also predict Nader will throw in his hat but get less than 1% of the vote. What I’d like to see is Ron Paul running as a Libertarian or an Independent. I’d love to vote for the guy. Exmi made a good point about if I do a write-in vote, I’d be throwing it away pretty much so I might as well vote for whomever the Libertarian candidate is. That way, at least my vote will be counted.

So my prediction is Obama beats McCain in a landslide. Who will be Vice President? John Edwards, not Hillary Clinton. Clinton is starting to alienate too many people and her attacking of Obama has already backfired.

It looks like you could be very right, my friend. Hillary has got to be freaking out over how fast he has totally eroded all of her lead. She thought she had it in the bag . . . it was her birthright for cryin’ out loud.

It will be interesting to see, that’s for sure.

I agree Obama will win, but I am not sure it will be a landslide. I will also not vote for him. If Bloomberg jumps in and takes a stand against illegal immigration, he may have my vote, since he already has declared the necessity to halt global warming. I feel Hillary is not as smart as people think. If she were, she would have understood by now trying to cut down Obama doesnt work, it just shows she is politics as usual. Her mocking Obama with her “the sky will open” speech which Tim Russert played in yesterday’s debate shows she really is not thinking. I like Obama but could not vote for any candidate that will not enforce our current laws on immigration. We dont need any new ones. - geopaxsansdieu

Ben - Yeah, she did take her lead for granted and I think she lost her cool when it starting eroding.

Geo - Hillary is politics as usual. And Obama lost me when he said people who are against illegal immigration are scapegoaters.

I was hoping for Will Smith ;-D

Sounds like we are going to get the worst President either way this time around… Lets home if it is Obama we dont end up being like those over in Iraq or some places. I dont know if I could handle being covered up all year round… I love my freedom and such. With Obama he just might try and change that. Here is a good question. How can some one like him be running for President when they werent even raised in the United States? When did he come an American Citizen? Just questions that popped in all of a sudden knowing he was born in Iraq and then raised in Africa if I remember correctly. Well anyway lets hope things dont change to much with him if he wins..

Tweety: You’ve got your facts on Obama wrong. Don’t buy into all the slanderous BS about him being some closet Muslim.

He was born in Hawaii and raised in the United States. His father was born in Kenya. When he was a child, he and his mother lived a few years in Indonesia.

ZS, Nader through his hat in on Monday or Tuesday.

Write-ins are NOT a waste of our vote! If enough of us wrote in who we truly believe in, maybe the political machine would sit up and take notice that we’re not happy with their games.

ZS, I think you will be surprised and Obama is the MOST liberal member of the Senate. Once his record is revealed he will be slaughtered.

I’ve been a little disenchanted with the libertarian party lately. I still believe in a small federal gov’t, but the candidates don’t make me feel like they do. It’s so very blase, “It’s a state’s rights issue, it’s a state’s rights issue.” But they say nothing more substantial. I felt like Harry Browne believed in what he said, not so much the current contenders.

Tweetey, where are you getting your information on Obama?

The strange thing about this election is anything can still happen. It looks like it is going to be Obama v McCain. But the polls already are really close between them. Obama only has him by like 7 points. And all Obama is doing right now is giving vague speeches about bringing folk together. When the general election comes around he is going to have to give substantive outlines of what he intends to do as president, and I don’t think that the positions he is taking now will get him very far. USA / Pan-Arab summit meetings? Even if that weren’t a ludicrous idea, the American public isn’t going to buy it. That dog just don’t hunt.

I don’t especially like McCain, but I think he may just be our next president.

And Z… I am with you in that I like a lot of what Ron Paul has to say on the issues. What does it say that everybody laughs off the guy who demands that we take our Constitution seriously? The trouble with RP is that he doesn’t have the personality to become president, and I don’t think he has the weight or judgment to really execute the office well. But I am glad he is in there saying what he is saying.

Miladysa - At least Will Smith is good against zombies. So that automatically would make him a better President than anyone running.

Tweetey - No, he’s American. He was only gone for a few years.

Laura - Thanks for the info.

    Tshsmom - Thanks. Didn’t know.
Well, the thing is enough people have to vote for the write-in for him or her to get noticed, that’s the trick. If you’re on the ballot, you’ll get a lot more votes.

Ben - We’ll see. I’m just predicting, not who I’m going for.

Courtney - I liked Badnarik. I saw him speak at a dinner.

Yonder - I don’t like either Obama or McCain. And I think RP is too intelligent to be President. He uses big words and talks about things like Freedom and the Constitution and that goes right over people’s little pop culture brains.

Actuallly, I don’t think a USA/Pan-Arab summit would be a bad idea at all. I do think getting over the hurdles of getting average Americans to buy it would be tough, just given the complete lack of understanding and ignorance a lot of people have regarding US foreign policy in the Middle East. Our foreign policies got us into this mess, so obviously the solution is military? Wrong. The solution is drafting new foreign policies and being more heavy-handed with some of our “Allies” regarding their own ties to terrorism.

  13. comment number 13 by: The Zombieslayer

Laura - I actually think the solution is a change in energy policy. This is actually a post coming up in a few days. I’m still working on it.

  14. comment number 14 by: Laura

Oh absolutely. OPEC has got us by the short and curlies for sure. We can’t afford to piss off the Saudis.

Laura - Google Scientific America and solar power.

  16. comment number 16 by: Laura

Yeah, that’s great for SoCal, but here in Chicago or in places up North where November through February are grey, cloudy and abysmal, I can’t see Solar doing that much. We’ve said that when we buy a house we’d like to look into solar panels, even if it would simply help to offset energy costs/use in the summer, but it’d be totally useless in Winter.

  17. comment number 17 by: Zombieslayer

Laura - The premise was that they would be set up in the Southwest, giant solar panels. It would be enough to offset all foreign oil. I’ll write an article about it probably tonight or tomorrow.

Just imagine us having no dependency on the Middle-East.

I’m remembering McGovern. Have no feeling one way or the other who’ll win, but no matter who it is, it won’t be dull. Strongly hope you’re right about HC.

  19. comment number 19 by: admin

Bridget - I remember McGovern. No, HC won’t be VP. She’s currently burning the bridge with Obama.

  20. comment number 20 by: Ben

ZS I know you weren’t saying who you’d vote for I’m just saying that he is too liberal to be president. Plus he’s riding a populus wave at the moment. 18-30 year old have this horrible habit of staying home on election day and that is by far his largest base of support. Banking your campaign on people won’t tend not to vote is a recipe for disaster.

  21. comment number 21 by: admin

Ben - If McCain can convince the Republicans and Moderates that, then he has a shot. And yes, 18-30 year olds generally don’t vote. So if history repeats itself, you may be right.

The other thing is Obama’s gun record is absolutely horrible. I don’t care about his other beliefs, I’ll never get behind someone with an F from the GOA.
