I’m reading Peter Lynch and found these quotes
May 10th, 2008I have 3 Chuck Klosterman books here. Finished one, half-way through the 2nd. I just went to a book sale and picked up a book by Peter Lynch. Have barely cracked the book when I read this. Some of the best words I’ve ever read.
You start to recognize that you’re only going to exist for a little while, whereas you’re going to be dead for a long time.
You remind yourself that nobody on his deathbed ever said: “I wish I’d spent more time at the office.”
-both quotes Peter Lynch
I love money as much as the next American, but come on, we work too hard. Get out and enjoy life, folks. Don’t work too hard.
I wish someone told me that ten years ago. I worked my butt off and they still sent my job to India. Had I known that, I wouldn’t have tried so hard to keep it.
Get to know your spouse better. Get to know your kids or your parents better. Also, don’t forget you have neighbors. If you give them a chance, you might find out that they’re interesting people.
True, very true.
my neighbors suck. but i like your message. spending time with my hubby and kids is priority number one.
the last paragraph is what it’s all about. a hearty amen from me!
yeah, I really liked those quotes.
Too bad your neighbors suck Namaste. Ours are pretty good, but we’re moving to save money so hopefully the next ones will be decent.
I’d rather live in a trailer and be happy than live in mansion struggling to keep bills paid and not knowing my kids. With a bunch of Americans living off credit cards so they can keep up with the Jones no wonder the drug companies are making billion over mood enhancing drugs.
Beach - Hit the nail on the head there.
Sounds good to me.
I met a guy recently who is all about money. I like money to a degree, but don’t need millions (not saying it wouldn’t be nice, but I don’t *need* it). I think too many people place too much importance on material wealth. Trust me, I have plenty of stuff, but a bigger house, more expensive car, etc. just aren’t important to me.
A bigger house, a more expensive car both equal more expensive payments and bigger headaches.
I’ll take my Saturn with 150k+ miles on it that still gets 25 mpg in the city, thank you. I put the key in it, turn it, and it works. I like things that work, which is one of the reasons I hate the Microsoft corporation so much. They got people used to mediocrity and people think that’s the norm in life.
OH I wish I’d found your blog (well, that it had existed for that matter) while I was married and a slave to GM!!!!
Wonderful advice as usual, Zombieslayer.
Don’t worry. I think a lot of us have been there.
at least this culture is so very much there where i stay. I think you should become a citizen here but you’ll get one only if you marry someone from here or do something extraordinary for this country
