Back from vacation
June 21st, 2008I’m with the Mac laptop at an internet cafe. I have my pictures on the home computer, so I’ll post them later.
My boss’s boss said I work too hard and told me to take some vacation, so I’ve been taking a lot this year. Some days, I’ll just take a day or two off and do nothing. Some days, I’ll go somewhere with the family. I’ve taken equivalent to three weeks so far this year and will take another two weeks worth before the year is over.
My wife has been saying the same thing. I’m just a hard working guy. I came from a different Class and sometimes I feel like I’m playing catch up with everyone else around here.
We talk Race to death in this country, but contrary to popular opinion, there are huge differences in Classes and when you leave your Class, you notice it.
So with my boss’s boss, my wife, and even my Doctor saying I need to work less and relax more, I’m realizing I should shut up and listen for once. It’s been nice. I’ll have some pics, and I’ll post them later.
I really should remember to bring the camera every place I go. You’re missing out on what should be some really nice pictures. California is gorgeous, and for those of you who have never been, definitely come visit. Those of you who live here already I hope you get outside and appreciate it.

Yeah. I need to be on vacation more. Or do nothing. It’s so hard when you’ve been working your whole life to sit and do nothing.

You are right on target about the class issue. I’ve seen some of the upper class rich African-Americans act just as snobby as rich white folk. Its no longer a white/black issue really its far more a rich/poor. Just got back from vacation myself last week and frankly I’m still not back in the normal swing of things.
Beach - Heh. That’s what I’ve been saying all along. It’s not about Race, it’s about Class.

A rested worker is a more productive worker. You’re actually helping your company by taking a regular vacation. I have forced vacation next week and although I bitch that I’m forced to take vacation time when I don’t want it, I am looking forward to sleeping in. I’m just tired.
