My thoughts on the bailout package

September 25th, 2008

See. This is why we should have put Ron Paul in there.

Fiscal responsibility. That’s something that neither George W Bush nor the current Congress have.

Find out who is voting to bailout these corporations with $700 billion of your tax money, then vote them out next term. $700 billion. Inflation is already too high. It will go higher.

Our debt is now at $9.6 trillion. This is unacceptable. You want to leave your children with paying interest for eternity? I didn’t think so.

I want to see some of these people in jail. None of these CEOs should get bonuses. Not one of them. This is sick. They’re running our economy into the ground, yet still have that house in the Hamptons. They ought to be tar and feathered.

I hope you are as outraged as I am. It’s especially outrageous now that people are losing their homes because their jobs have been exported overseas, yet only the rich are getting bailed out.

Excellent. Just when I thought Bush couldn’t leave the country in a worse situation, he takes one last dump on the American peoople. Why is it every time a Bush leaves office, the economy has to be cleaned up? The first time was bad, but this is looking really scary.

I’m trying to avoid stress so my back will heal. Bush’s speech last night did NOT help! He REALLY thinks we’re that stupid, doesn’t he?

I wonder what “I-Used-to-Teach-Constitutional-Law Obama” will have to say about this mess? Using tax dollars to bail out private business is UNCONSTITUTIONAL!

    It’s happening over here too!

It’s a bloody disgrace! These international financial rats will never pay the price and keep on drawing bonus after bonus.

Lime - ‘Tis. I’m tired of bailing out the rich. This is corporate socialism at its worst.

Skeletor - Yeah, I hope that family never wins anything ever again. I hate that family.

Tshsmom - Using tax dollars to bail out private business is UNCONSTITUTIONAL!

Exactly! Where’s the Supreme Court when you need ‘em.

Miladysa - Yeah. It’s sick. All these CEO’s will get bonuses with our tax money.

The problem really is that if these banks go under, so will our entire economy - therein lies the problem. We can’t go back in time and put the regulations back in place that would have prevented this. It really looks like the “bailout” is the only choice. That said, I do agree with the Dems that if this is the only way to prevent meltdown (I’m not an economist, so I won’t try to argue that), then the CEOs cannot profit from this, that there need to be safeguards for homeowners, and that it should be like an interest-bearning loan, where there are tax refund increases that account for the interest earned by taxpayers on their money. Oh, and oversight, oversight, oversight.

I’m not happy about it, but it seems better than a depression.

Oh, and also… that conspiracy theory i read a few months back about how some crisis might just come along that would suspend the elections until it’s resolved is looking more and more plausible. I don’t want to sound like a partisan nutjob, but I also agree with Obama that - hm. maybe a president has to be able to deal with more than one thing at a time, and a few hours at a debate where we’ll actually get some answers about where they stand on issues is just as important?? You know the other theory, right? That they’ll argue that if this debate tonight is postponed, that there won’t be time for all the debates - and guess which one just might get cancelled - the VP debate - so they can keep Palin locked up until November.

I have to agree with Laura with everything she wrote.

I have a friend who is a non-partisan conspiracy theoriest nutjob and he said early this year that there would be some major crisis that would postpone the election and Bush would declare himself King (or something along those lines). I would really hate for him to be right, because he’s insufferable when he’s right.

Democrat from Ohio. She gets it. She should be President, not those two morons McCain or Obama.

Oh, and then be sure to watch the end.

“If this were a Dictatorship, it would a heck of a lot easier. Just as long as I’m the Dictator.”

    -George W Bush

This is who you will be supporting if you support the bailout. Keep this in mind.

Don’t fall for GWB’s scare tactics.

I was waiting for you to comment or post on this topic. Added to the unconstitutional spin on this, is where do we stop if we start to bail out these banks?

Ford, GM, and Cat already have their hands out next.. so will just about every large company in this union..

Slippery slope we have gotten ourselves into.. personally this reeks of criminal behavior.

Oh.. along the same lines of this post.. it truly pisses me off that Bush is pushing so hard right now to save these banks.. but yet during his administration he has watched gasoline that is the lifeblood of this country currently almost double in price.. yet barely even got excited about it.

Face it.. this government is and has been controlled by major corporations.. and without political and economic reform.. that isn’t going to change anytime soon.

Pack - See my latest post. You’re dead on about GWB.
