Of fashion, bailouts, and outsourcing

December 22nd, 2008

So…

My blogging buddy Badman showed me a news article with Posh Spice saying that Brits are more fashionable than Americans, to which I replied “you can put a $2000 dress on a pig and it’s still a pig.” Not slamming English women of course, but Posh Spice directly. I don’t care what she’s wearing, she and her trash soccer moron hubby are pigs. Yet another reason I can’t wait for the zombie plague to start.

Remember how I was so much against the bank bailouts? I wrote three articles against it. Guess what? Here’s something to make you sick…

An Associated Press study showed that the execs from the bailed out banks got $1.6 billion total of YOUR taxpayer money. That’s just great. Someone please explain to me why these guys aren’t in jail.

In another bout of hypocrisy, the CEO of Bank of America said that the car companies shouldn’t get that $25 billion they asked for. Real nice, considering his company ALONE got $50 billion.

And yet another reason this economy’s been shaky that almost no one is bringing up - outsourcing. You simply cannot outsource more jobs than you create and expect everything to be rosy. The center of ANY economy are jobs. Unemployment is high because of outsourcing.

Since I started blogging in 2005, I was going off on this globalist mentality. It’s a bad idea. No, you can’t stop globalism, but greedy execs used it as an excuse to cut costs by cutting jobs. Guess what? When all the jobs are gone, there’s nobody left to buy your products. Seems simple, right? Apparently not.

It may be a long recession, folks. Make sure you save as much as you can from each paycheck and continue paying down your debts. Obama talks about creating news jobs. That’s nice, but how about save the jobs that already exist? I don’t think too many folks here are confident in their job security right now.

Those are two vain couples… i don’t even wanna talk about them….
How come people don’t make such a big deal out of things like this. WOW! its amazing how money is wasted on people who need it the least… i hope we see some change as Obama promised in the new year!

Tweety - ‘Tis. I was looking at the options in my 401k and almost everything is down 40%. I feel bad for the older people who are close to retirement. Their retirement accounts are shot.

Tchoden - We’ll see. I’m just hoping the economy improves in his term.

Posh and Becks are a couple of posers but on the other hand they do help to support a lot of charities…

Merry Christmas to YOU and Yours ZS :D

“When all the jobs are gone, there’s nobody left to buy your products.”
I always thought this was a no-brainer too.
Something else that bugs me is the idea that profits have to increase every year. How about just being grateful that you’re making a profit?
Greed caused this whole mess, and I’m afraid things will have to hit bottom before the greedy understand what they caused.

Miladysa - I take celebrities and charities with a grain of salt. Keep in mind, their contributions are all tax deductible so it’s their accountants telling them about charities, not from the heart. Then they make a photo op out of it.

Now, regular people, they do all the work when it comes to charities but NEVER get any credit.

Merry Christmas to you and yours as well.

Tshsmom - Yup. I was hoping we hit bottom already but it looks like that’s not the case. :(

Last NFL pool of the year is up.

Oh. You won 3 times. One person won 4. So you have a chance to be tied for most wins.
    Come by.

  9. comment number 9 by: The Zombieslayer

Kate - OK. I did.

Anything special if I get the most wins? (Yeah, I know I’ll be tied if I win).

I find Posh Spice annoying and have done for years… I’m just sorry she’s chez vous inflicting her unsmiling dubious “charms” on yous lot…

    I don’t know. I’ll post their name.

I don’t know much about Posh, but job security…well, virtually NO ONE has that right now, and that’s a damn shame. It didn’t have to be this way. The bailouts are just another example of rewarding failure.

    You’re spot on with everything.
To add one to your list, and in a very simplified view of the crisis, I am upset that people are now losing their homes they bought rightfully because they lost their jobs to the crisis that started because some greedy morons encouraged people to buy homes they could not afford in the first place!

Touch wood we and our loved ones will not be affected too badly by the crisis and bless those who are. Worst holiday season ever.

Gledwood - Yes. Americans have low standards. That’s why she’s so big here. Heck, look at our other stars. Actually, don’t.

Kate - Well, I think I bombed this week.

SME - Yup. The only people with job security are CEOs. Whether they excel or suck horribly, they’ll get their golden parachutes.

Helen - Oh, completely agreed. I feel really bad for them. Personally know a lot.

And yes, this holiday season has been good for us, but it’s been horrible for almost every one of my friends and family members. It has been a bad holiday season. :(

$1.6 Billion to the Execs, how are they getting away with that? This is just an example of the increasing divide between rich and poor in the US. These guys feel that they are better than everyone else and are entitled to these ridiculous payouts. I bet I could have run these banks better.

  16. comment number 16 by: The Zombieslayer

Yeah, you have to wonder why these guys aren’t in jail.

The thing is, when the Middle Class is hosed, there will be no one to support the Upper Class long-term. They don’t understand this, or maybe they do and they’re too short-sighted to care.

Oh, and yeah, you could have run the banks better.

AMEN, ZS, AMEN! I completely agree with you on outsourcing. It drives me crazy - along with people who shop at Wal-Mart (single-handedly responsible for a SHITLOAD of middle class jobs going to China).

I was excited last month because I found a pair of socks at Target that were made in the U.S.A. I bought them. And kept putting back the socks that said Made in China.
