Hot Mexican Babe - Salma Hayek
June 8th, 2009By request, I’ve decided to bring back Babes, something I had on my original blog when it was hosted by Blogger.
I don’t want to go too political and always wanted to maintain a level of cheese. Plus, this blog doesn’t have enough images. I keep telling people I’m going to post photographs of my outings and I never get around to it. So while I keep dragging, I’ll at least put some Babes on my page.
Salma
So for my very first Babe on the new blog, here’s Mexican hottie Salma Hayek. I’ve always had a thing for her, first from the Robert Rodriguez film Desperado, then with one of the sexiest scenes ever filmed with Rodriguez directing and Quinten Tarantino writing himself into the scene (in the movie From Dusk ‘Til Dawn). Heh. Very clever Tarantino. I want to get killed in a movie by an undead Salma Hayek.

Cool thing is, she’s now an American citizen, but I give credit where it’s due. Mexico gave birth to her and started her career. If you don’t know already, Mexico has a damn good film industry with some of the world’s better Directors.

Sexiness and Salma Hayek
I said it before and I’ll say it again. Sexiness is like coolness. You either are sexy or you’re not. Same thing with cool. You’re either cool or you’re not. If you try to be sexy, you’re not sexy. If you try to be cool, you’re not cool.
Jessica Simpson tries to be sexy. She’s not sexy. She appeals to the lowest common denominator in American culture. Now, Salma has “it.” She’s sexy. She doesn’t have to try to be sexy. She just is sexy.
Same thing with cool. Sean Connery is cool. He doesn’t have to try to be cool. He just is cool. Nickelback tries to be cool. They’re not.
So if you want to know why my first babe is Salma, it’s because when I hear the word “sexy,” she’s the very first person who comes to mind. From Dusk ‘Til Dawn had hands down the sexiest moment I can remember in the last 20 years.
I’ve seen all the Dusk ‘Til Dawns. Oh yeah, she’s beautiful.
lmao…. I am so with you on the Sean Connery vs Nickleback!!!… roflmao…. And yes, Selma is sexy too
So agree with your assessment on cool and sexy and your examples of both (and your examples of what is *not*)
My dad has always said “Selma is my girlfriend” whenever we talk about celebrity crushes. I totally get it.
Much cuter than Penelope Cruz–she’s an ant from space.
No argument here. Her attitude, intelligence and independence are just as big components in her sexiness as her very obvious physical attributes.
salma is beyond sexy. good heavens, she is just utterly gorgeous.
It’s funny with Salma, here we are all in agreement about her and the word “sexy.” She exudes sexiness.
As for sexiness and gorgeous, I think they’re two different things actually. Gorgeous is a physical attribute. Sexiness is something that comes from inside. I find some women sexy who are not gorgeous and vice versa.
As for Penelope Cruz, I actually do like her but you’re right, her face looks like an ant’s. But she’s got a nice body and she’s had roles where she was “neat” and “cute.” But Salma she is not.
Poor Nickelback. When I thought of an example of something “uncool,” Nickelback immediately popped into my head. And I don’t think there will be too many people arguing that Sean Connery is not cool.
Hi ZS,
I’d agree. She looks like someone you might actually be able to strike up a conversation with.
I don’t like the insectoid looks of many celebrity women.
I’m deeply heterosexual, but I know sexy when I see it and your Salma is a stunner!
I like women to look ’strong’, however, not weak and helpless (although men love that look for some reason - it has to do with the protective instinct? Who knows. We’ll never know).
Linda Hamilton looked GREAT in Terminator, although quite thin. She looked strong and ready. (I could take her down in 10 seconds though ;->)
(I’m letting my 59 year old age show) But Katharine Hepburn always struck me as the ‘ultimate’ woman. Sexy? Sometimes, but strong and ‘ready’ for anything. Those things came through in her characters too.
Here’s a quote you’ll like:
“If offered the choice between money and sex-appeal, choose money. It will become your sex-appeal as you age”. –Katharine Hepburn.
Smart woman.
Sean Connery. Absolutely cool. The older he gets the cooler he gets. “Why don’t you undo that bow, Moneypenny, and let me get to know you…” That man still rocks my boat.
(I think that ‘line’ was from Saturday Night Live, actually.)
My cool&sexy list:
Paul Newman
Lauren Bacal
Humphrey Bogart
Joe Morton (Brother from Another Planet, among other film’s and TV shows - if you haven’t seen it. DO IT RIGHT NOW, ZS, you’re going to like it.)
Arnold (he still rings my bells too!! Arnold who? Get out of town!)
Drew Carey (yes he IS sexy. Overweight doesn’t bother me, it is all in the attitude… Fun and funny too.)
Paul Newman - Cool as hell. Yes, he has “it.”
Katherine Hepburn - Loved her in The African Queen. I’m all about women who when the you know what hits the fan can take care of themselves. I find that attribute “sexy.”
Lauren Bacal - Before my time.
Bogart - He had “it” as well. Loved The Maltese Falcon and Casablanca.
Morton - Nope, don’t know Another Planet. OK, I’ll add it to my queue. The thing is, there are a lot of things on my queue, books, movies, shows, etc. I’m actually a pretty busy person, but I’ll be interested in it for sure.
Arnie - He’s cool.
Carey - Don’t know that show. I know what you’re referring to, but never seen one episode. I’ve gone on and off for years without even owning a TV. I have one now, but use it for DVDs only.
Linda Hamilton - She was awesome in T2. Same feeling as Hepburn in African Queen.
Drew Carey - his show was OK (like you, I’m not a TV nut. We got a TiVo years ago and use it for things we like (3rd rock.. OK, 3rd Rock.) But we caught an episode of “Whose line is this anyway?” and it is a scream.
It is all (I am fairly certain) ad lib comedy with some of the smartest comediennes in the business. How we roar! But I love Lithgow in 3rd Rock too.
Strangely, he is such a good actor (Lithgow) that when he decides to go all dark and sexy, he knows practically everyone else out of the running. Of course, as Emilio Lizardo (Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai - you MUST have seen this, if not, put it at the top of your queue ;->) he stole the show.
Cheers!
Looking at your next post now (but I gotta get some work done!)

Funny that Salma is the first babe you post. I was doing a web search for Salma pictures way back and that is how I first came across your old blog.
Paul Newman is beyond cool. It still makes me sad that he has left us.
I didn’t get the whole Humphrey Bogart thing for a really long time. Then I saw The Petrified Forest…
For Lauren Bacall, check To Have & Have Not - also with Bogey.
Salma Hayek is gorgeous and incredibly sexy.
