Nada mucho
September 26th, 2009Ever notice that the ones who proclaim the loudest how open-minded they are are also the ones who can’t stand it when people disagree with them?

I don’t like Jazz. I’ve always seen Jazz as a group masturbation session. Each person takes their turn to masturbate. Now, don’t get me wrong. I think Jazz musicians are amongst the top in pretty much every category. But there’s this thing called “melody” which I’ve always thought is more important than musicianship.
That said, I hate top-4o for the opposite reason. Top-40 has no musicianship. It’s just the singer. If it’s a female singer, she’s singing about her boyfriend. If it’s a male singer, he’s singing about himself. No depth. Whatsoever.

So British snobbery has come back to bite them on the ass. Well, at least when it comes to film. The latest James Bond movie was hands down the worst James Bond movie ever made. What’s worse, the latest Harry Potter film was just bad. David Yates sucks and should be unemployed eating soup with other unemployed people. Where he shouldn’t be is behind a camera.
That’s the problem with the British. They’re snobs. If you’re British and you’re reading this, come on. Admit it. I admit that us Americans make annoying tourists. You can admit you’re a bunch of snobs.
So, why does this matter? The British absolutely positively have to have a British director directing Harry Potter films even though hands down the best Harry Potter film was directed by a Mexican. It’s not only the best of the series, but the only one in the series that’s worthy of being studied in a film class.
So we’re stuck with David Yates. That means, no Harry Potter 7. I refuse to see them, as he’s had two chances already and got big FAILS for each one.
If I were running the franchise, I’d do one of the following:
1) Get Alfonso Cuaron back (the director of HP3),
2) Get the American guy who did Milk. Now, that was a well-directed movie.

OK, dumb idea telling you to buy the DOW at 12k. However, smart idea telling you to buy Ford at $1.77. I did, and sold most of it at $6. I don’t have much left though but holding those shares long term as Fords are cool. Did you know the “foam” cushions inside the seats are made of soy? How cool is that? Or that Ford has the largest green roof in the entire world?

So you want to know what I’m looking forward to? Well, Spike Jonze doing my favorite kid’s book of all-time. Can’t wait to see this. I’ll write a full review October 17th.
That looks awsome. Will have to check it out when it comes out.. We are members for netflix and I will put that one on my waiting list…
soy cushions? whoda thunk it?
and i really hope they do justice to “wild things.” i’d hate to see it done poorly. let the wild rumpus begin!
I want to see it.
I know a logger that bought stock in our local company at $.035, when it tanked last winter. It’s now up to $.065. Not a bad return, eh?
Aw, Lime beat me to it. That’s my favorite line in the book! Z and I saw the trailer for Wild Things when we went to HP6. It surprised me how excited Z was about this, considering he’s 17. I hope they don’t screw it up, as they have to add a LOT of plot to make a feature-length film.
Maurice Sendak should thank me. I’ve bought more copies of his book than any other. I frequently buy Wild Things as a baby gift for new parents.
This is a Chevy town, and I’m frequently ridiculed for driving a Ford. I got my revenge last winter. Whenever anyone would make fun of my F150, I’d say: “At least Ford didn’t take any of the bailout money!”
I love to see soy-based products. Soy is a soil-replenishing crop; unlike corn, which depletes the soil.
Oops, the stock went from $.035 to $.65…stupid fingers!
Tweety - Yeah, it does. Looking forward to it.
Lime - “Be still!” I think that’s my fave line.
Kate - I’ll let you know when we go.
Tshsmom - Holy cow! That’s quite a return there. Didn’t know that about soy, but very cool. Even more reason to like Ford. Cool Z was excited for it. I know I am. And I’ve always wanted some of those Sendak stuffed animals. Never gave in though.
I’m looking forward to Wild Things bigtime. It was the first book I bought for Z-Kid and I love it love it love it.
I wasn’t impressed with HP 5 at first, but it’s kinda grown on me. Imelda Staunton was awesome.
Never heard of soy cushions before, but while I’m still mourning the explosion of my beloved buckwheat pillow, I’m betting they’re pretty comfy.
Yes, i noticed that. was guilty of it at one time as well.
jazz is by far the most manic music. some disagree and say it’s metal, but i very much disagree. there is no melodic chain to hold jazz together. just like cats in a barrel my uncle would say.
the british snobbery is well known. we have it too… kinda like second-hand snobbery. it’s pretty funny actually.
HP3 was the best one, hands down.
I would love an escape hybrid. I have a truck and hate it. something tells me my soy cushions don’t veto the v-8 gas guzzler of doom.
that book scared me when i was a kid, and i have no intentions of watching the movie. my husband and daughter are very excited for it though.
I’m a pretty big fan of Allan Mulally. GM and Chrysler could learn a thing or two from him.
I still think GM and Chrysler will be gone, or severely diminished in the next 10 years. Ford will still be around.
I should have bought the stock… shoulda woulda coulda…
Last Ford I had, and the last Ford I will ever have.
driveshaft, ball joints, replaced under warrenty. Rear rotors replaced twice. the second time they would not cover it as it was a replacement part. The replacement part was identical to the part that was replaced the first time that was identical to the part that was original. It was under warrenty and had a service bulletin on it. Oh, and the stereo needed to be replaced twice.
The Ford I had before that had head gasket problems as the iron block and aluminium heads would warp where they joined as iron and aluminium heat and cool at different temperatures. Oh and a major oil leak that spit (gushed) oil on the manifold.
I now have a honda and an Acura. No problems.
Wonder what my future cars brand will be?
