Thanks, Obama
December 23rd, 2009
So it’s been quite a year. We’re in a recession. The “official” unemployment is at 10% but the real unemployment rate is over 17%.
My heart goes out to all the good folks that are unemployed, underemployed, or struggling to get by because they’re recovering from being unemployed or underemployed.
Now, stealing from future generations to bail out the current generations is stupid. I feel bad for future generations. Don’t get mad when they cut off your Social Security and put you in crappy retirement homes. Frankly, our generations deserve it.
Plus, I still don’t get why the guy got a Nobel Peace Prize. We’re still in two wars, one of which we have no business whatsoever being in (and yes, I was against this war from the beginning). If someone has the answer to that, I’m all ears.
Nice. I wonder where you got that picture from?
About Obama’s Nobel, did you read what I had to say about it?

i can’t explain it. but I get to play my ‘Canuck’ card
The experts keep saying we’re coming out of the recession, BUT it will be another couple of years before employment improves. WTF?! If we’re not working, we can’t spend money you friggin’ idiots!
MERRY CHRISTMAS to you and the family!
I hope you guys get time to play those board games.
The money being pumped into the economy by the FED is what they are basing their information on. It is not overall consumer spending that is fueling this so called recover, it is artificial by the transfusion of currency used to create those infrastructure type jobs that will go away eventually.
Untill we get our manufacturing base back from overseas, and untill we stop outsourcing our jobs to foreign workers our economy is going to stay in the tank.
Neal - Yeah. Well, written article.
As for the artificial job creation, you are correct. These jobs are all temporary. They are not long-term jobs.
I 100% agree with you that we need to do something about outsourcing jobs. We’ve been outsourcing jobs faster than we create new ones and I knew since I started blogging in ‘05 that it would be a problem. Now we’re seeing it.
Xmichra - That’s ok. Americans can’t explain it either.
Tshsmom - It’s all about jobs. I could care less if the GNP is going up if there’s still 10% officially unemployed and 17% real unemployment.
Merry Christmas to all of you! Oh yeah, we’ll be playing Railways of the World tonight.
Well, they gave Kissinger the Nobel Peace Prize too. So…
I am also disappointed in how things are going. I don’t think it’s ALL Obama’s fault though. The Health care bill would have helped a LOT more people if it weren’t for the uncompromising bastards on the Right who would rather see Obama fail than help people.
Laura - It’s important not to take sides and do what’s right for the country. Yes, Kissinger didn’t deserve shit either. You gotta wonder what these people are thinking.
I’m not so much talking about the health care as I am with all the other crazy spending. 2 wars, yes, neither of which he started but he could have pulled us out of one at the least. Plus you have him continuing Bush’s corporate bailout policies.
This plus additional spending is making Bush look economically responsible. I thought I’d never see the day we’d have someone who was more economically reckless than Bush and Obama is beating him, which is hard to do.
All this is killing future generations. Our generation already works until May to pay taxes. Imagine what future generations will be like.
I hate to say this as it often pisses many people off, but Americans are way too emotional about the issues. They refuse to do any kind of research on the facts and rely upon what they hear on the TV.
For instance, I constantly hear the housing crisis blamed on Bush. Yet during the Bush administration the GOP proposed bills that would regulate Fannie and Freddie. It was Barney Frank and Chris Dodd who fought tooth and nail to defeat those bills.
You can trace the housing crisis back to Clinton, yet it is all blamed on Bush because the bubble burst while he was in office.
There is way too much partisan politics, and as Zombie says, not enough attention paid to what is best for the country overall.
Too many people don’t understand the Constitution and what our founders intended when they wrote it. Instead of reading their writings they would rather watch reality TV or sports. I do not deny anyone the right to spend time enjoying themselves, but when they allow their enjoyment to come at the neglect of their responsibility to understand our system of government, that is when I get upset.
Sorry for the rant.
Neal - That’s another important thing that our elected officials keep overstepping - the Constitution. The Constitution specifically calls for a limited government as our Founding Fathers knew what happens when a government had too much power.
I put the fault on the general public, myself included. We put these people in office and we really need to get them out of office.
Bush and Obama are bad Presidents and historians years from now may be looking at these two Presidents as the administrations that caused the downfall of America.
Their spending has gone through the roof and the debts we owe to China and other countries will destroy the middle class as we know it.
