Merry Christmas!

December 7th, 2009

I do this post almost every year.  Just word it differently.

Merry Christmas! To those who get offended by that, tough.  Look, Christmas isn’t even a Christian holiday.  It’s Pagan.  There’s a 1/365.25 chance that Jesus was born on Christmas day.  The only thing Christian about Christmas is the name.  The rest, Christians stole from various Pagan traditions, if I’m not mistaken, mostly Yuletide.

I went Christmas caroling Saturday night.  Had a blast.  I LOVE Christmas parties.  Tons of food.  Egg nog.  Adult apple cider.  How can you not love it?

Now, the folks who want to ban Christmas are often atheists, and a minority at that.  If I’m not mistaken, the majority of atheists in this country celebrate Christmas as well because it’s fun.  It’s a fun tradition, and a tradition that should continue for at least another one hundred years.

If you get offended, then start your own freaking holiday.  Geez, Louise.  Get a life.  If you manage to start your own holiday and have fun parties, then by all means, invite me over.

The problem is some folks just like to ruin fun for everyone else.  Screw them.  Enjoy this holiday, no matter what religion or lack of religion you have.  And if you throw a fun party, I don’t care what it’s about.  Invite me over.

In defense of Kate Moss

December 6th, 2009

You may have heard last month what Kate Moss said.  She said something along the lines of “skinny is best” was her motto.  I don’t know the exact quote.  Frankly, I don’t care.

Well, Britain has become butt hurt.  Politicians have been insulting her left and right.  There have even been groups calling for her censure and boycott.

Doesn’t she know how harmful she is to women, especially young girls with eating disorders? Cry me a river.

Look up the deaths each year due to anorexia nervosa.  Look up the deaths each year due to bulimia.  Then, add those two together and compare them to the deaths from obesity.  You will see that being too skinny produces barely a fraction of the deaths to being obese.  Barely noticeable.  In fact, you can’t even compare them.

Political correctness aside, I like facts.  Do I feel bad for people with eating disorders? Sure.  But let’s be real.  Eating disorders are so First World.

In the First World, it’s not being too thin that will kill you.  It’s being too fat.  So maybe instead of hating Kate Moss, the First World should lose some weight?

Just a thought.

By the way, Kate Moss has had enough.  She’s leaving Britain.  Good for her.  It rains too much there anyways.
