Hi
June 6th, 2010Been busy with personal things, very busy. It’s a good thing, but bad for my blog.
Yes, I’m still here and hopefully this week I should have some time to visit everyone’s blogs.
A lot to say but I’ll keep it all short. Several things I’ve learned in life. Probably most importantly, the most important thing you have is your health and the health of your loved ones. If you have both, be thankful. Everything else is replaceable. Yes, that includes your house, your car, all your belongings. They’re just stuff. People aren’t replaceable and neither if your health.
Another thing, British Petroleum should get a lifetime ban from anywhere that can affect the US of A. It’s absolutely sickening to see all those animals coming up dead. My heart goes out to the families and friends of the people killed in the accident. And yes, BP hasn’t been doing enough. I don’t care what the CEO says. He’s a moron.
In politics, the Republicans are blaming Obama and the Democrats are blaming the Republicans. Both are wrong. The blame needs to go to British Petroleum.
The Gulf is already polluted. It’s just getting worse. We need to do something about our energy policies. I’ve written about alternative solutions several times in the past so I’m not just one of those people who bitch but have no answers.

I’ve been reading fiction books again (besides Harry Potter). The author I like now is Jim Butcher. I’m on book 5 of his Harry Dresden series. Harry Dresden if you’ve never heard of him is a wizard in modern day Chicago. The books are not easy reads as they will emotionally drain you to the point that I have to take a break between reading each book.
I’m so glad to read fiction again as I realized I must have been turning dry reading nothing but history, politics, and economics. Those all are good for the mind, don’t get me wrong. Fiction though is good for the soul.

And yes, still no TV. It’s great. You get so much more done if you don’t watch TV.

Although we still watch movies at friends’ houses. The other night, we went over to my real estate agent’s house and watched Taken. I’ve seen it before and said this before, thank goodness for Liam Neeson as the recent James Bond movies are downright lame. Nice to have an action hero that’s good. If you haven’t seen Taken and you like action movies, go out and rent it.
So after the movie, I turned to my real estate agent and said “man, France was probably a pretty nice country before all those fucking Albanians moved in.”
I liked Taken as well, good flick.
Pretty much cringing at the effect of the BP oil catastrophy…. no words there.
Yeah, I have Taken on dvd. Law Abiding Citizen isn’t bad either if you haven’t seen it.
I went and saw Iron Man II in the theater yesterday with the wife and son. I wanted to see the new Robin Hood, but I was outnumbered. Don’t waste your money, it stinks.
Glad to hear your gettin R done as Larry the Cable Guy would say.
I haven’t read a book since they closed down the last book store in town. Now to go to a book store I have to drive 45 miles to Sacramento and deal with the traffic. Online book buying is cheaper, but dammit you just can’t browse around an online book store. You have to know what you want.
Oh well, glad to see you’re still doin well.
Hmm, I can’t even picture Neeson as an action-hero kinda guy, but I guess it’s worth a try. What I hate about the latest Bond films is that the dry humour and subtle campiness are gone. They’re dark and intense, just like most other action flicks. The franchise lost its uniqueness.
Don’t think I’ve heard of the Harry Dresden books. You’ve piqued my curiosity - emotionally draining?
I liked Taken.
Yeah, a lot of people were telling me Iron Man 2 is really bad. Will miss that one.
Neeson was awesome in Rob Roy as well as Star Wars I. Yes, the latter was a downright unwatchable movie, but Neeson still should get credit as putting out a fine performance in an otherwise pathetic piece of elephant dung movie.
As for the Harry Dresden books (author is Jim Butcher), Dresden almost dies in every book. Butcher writes in a way that it doesn’t get old and you can’t put it down as it’s action from start to finish. Plus, a lot of really cool people die or get seriously injured as well. So after reading it, I’m pretty emotionally drained. I’m on book 5 now and accidentally read them out of order as I’ve read book 7 already.
I want a book but cant afford it right now. It comes out Oct 1st.. Its my adopted sisters book she wrote. just wondering whats in it.. lol. she has it on barnes and noble.com and amazon.. its under Kimberly Mack. Its called The Eclipsed Heart I believe.. I have to go back to work for now I have my scrunchies to do.. All 48 of them..LOL..Meaning I have two done.
I read that by 2025, France will be majority Muslim. If that’s not scary, I don’t know what is.
Just to let you know, I saw the remake of Karate Kid last night. Not bad. It is the same story line as the original, but just changed to China and the kid has to learn Kung Fu. But still, not a bad flick.
Looks like Robin Hood will have to wait till it comes out on dvd as my wife and son have no interest in seeing it in the theater. Bloody hell!!!!
