ZS–We have many of the same ‘favorites’. In every category we have a match. Judas Priest was one of my FAVORITE bands in high school. Think about it–their music is some of the only music from that era that still sounds INCREDIBLE today. It simply blows all of todays EMO ‘punks’ out of the water.
Vonnegut, as you know, has been a favorite of mine since I was in art school twenty years ago.
We grew up in the same era: I’m 38 years old.
Come to think of it–our friendship represents all things great about America: we don’t have everything in common, and we know it. But the think that keeps us tight
is that we are both free thinkers with incredibly open minds and hearts. Case in point: I’m not a member of the NRA, and I don’t tote a rifle, but I do believe that it is the right of every American to bear arms–especially in these times. The “Patriot Act” has deleted so many of our integral civil liberties–and that’s why bearing arms is so important. However, like I stated above, I don’t go around toting a rifle, and I certainly don’t hunt. But I DO love Clint Eastwood, so wouldn’t I be the biggest hypocrit in the world if I was anti-NRA while Dirty Harry is in my top twenty ‘all time favorite movies’ list?
Last year was a tough one for me: I’m glad that you kept in touch, and I’m glad to be reading your writing again.
