Top 50 albums of all-time

August 29th, 2007

How good your taste in music is is directly related to how close your taste is with mine. The closer it is with mine, the better. The farther, the worse.

Now, I’m not including Classical pieces (from the Romantic era, of course. You won’t catch me listening to Baroque garbage), even though I’m a big fan of Tchaikovsky, Brahms, and Beethoven. The reason is classical means something different to me. It’s not something I can listen to all the time. It’s something special.

You also may be wondering why there’s stuff like Natalie Merchant, Tori Amos, Duran Duran, Prince, and The Cure on there. That’s not Metal. Yeah, I know it’s not Metal, but I wrote a novel to that Merchant album, Amos has the best female voice bar none, and she’s amazing live, Duran Duran scores hot chicks, so they’re cool in my book, and Prince as well. As for The Cure, well, long story. It’s only one album so chill out.

You’re also wondering why Dimmu Borgir’s masterpiece is not higher. I’d put it higher, but I bought it when everything in the Zombieslayer household was in chaos, some tough times, and if it had been better times, that would definitely be in the top 20. So, no fault to their obvious genius; I just have bad associations with that time period. Sorry Dimmu Borgir.

And Nightwish’s Once ahead of even Ozzy’s Blizzard of Ozz? Well, have you heard Once? If not, drop what you’re doing, go to the nearest record store, and buy the fucking album. It’s hands down by far the best piece of music written in the 2000s.

By the way, I’m writing this list a month before Nightwish’s Dark Passion Play and HIM’s Venus Doom comes out. They might appear on this list, or at least I’m hoping so. The very first day they’re released, I’m rushing to Rasputin Records and buying them.

Here’s the best 50 records ever made. You might say CDs but I still prefer the old vinyl because NOTHING beats the sound of vinyl. Sure CDs can play louder, but vinyl has character.

I couldn’t take BC off the list because I saw the best looking stripper in my life to two songs from that album in the Valley Ball strip club in L.A. back in ‘01, right before our company went on the big downspin and it all went to shit.

One of these days, I’ll do my Classical pieces.
